Tech Support 101:

Before asking for help, please try to reboot your computer first!

If you do need to ask for help, please try to find out if you are the only one having the problem or if others are as well!  This will help in determining where the problem lies.

How to access the MargaretAdorjan.com web-based email system:

Step 1:  Go to the Webmail website
The easiest way to access it is by clicking the WebMail link on the MyMAA.net homepage.  However, you can also get there by going to http://mail.margaretadorjan.com:2095

Step 2:  Enter your user name and password.
When asked for your Username and Password, enter your full email address as the username, and enter the password that you've already selected.  (If you have not changed your password, it is the first 3 letters of your last name followed by the last 4 digits of your cell phone number).  If you have forgotten your password and need to reset it, contact Tobi.

Step 3:  Read Mail using either Horde or SquirrelMail.  It is entirely up to you to see which one you like best!  (SquirrelMail is simpler ... Horde has more features)

Tip:  If you send an email from within the Webmail system (either by using reply or composing a new message), "CC" the message to yourself.  Next time you're using your normal email program your message will come into your inbox and you can then drag it into your "Sent Items" so that you'll have a record of it!

How to change your email password:

Step 1:  Go to the Webmail website
The easiest way to access it is by clicking the WebMail link on the MyMAA.net homepage.  However, you can also get there by going to http://mail.margaretadorjan.com:2095

Step 2:  Enter your user name and password.
When asked for your Username and Password, enter your full email address as the username, and enter the password that you've already selected.  (If you have not changed your password, it is the first 3 letters of your last name followed by the last 4 digits of your cell phone number).  If you have forgotten your password and need to reset it, contact Tobi.

Step 3:  Click on "Change Password"
Enter your new password in the two boxes provided and then click "Change"
Note:  Your new password must be at least 6 characters!

If you use Outlook or Outlook Express, you will need to enter this new password in that program!

I lost or forgot my password

Your username and password for the MAA File Server, Email, and MyMAA.net are not necessarily the same.  All three accounts are maintained separately.  Changing or resetting it on one does not affect any of the others!

bullet For email password resets, contact Tobi
bullet For MyMAA.net username/password resets, contact Tobi
bullet For file-server password resets, contact Marc
bullet Note:  The username and password you use to log into your computer when you turn it on must match the username and password configured on the file server!  If you change your password to get into your computer without having it reset on the server, you will not be able to access Public etc until it is changed on the server to match.

How to configure Outlook or Outlook Express (or any POP client)

bullet Most email programs will ask for the same basic information, but they all ask for it slightly differently.  In Outlook or Outlook Express, the setup is available under the "Tools" menu and then go to "Accounts" or "Email Accounts" and follow the prompts to add an email account.
bullet Fill in the email information that your email program asks for.  This should include the following:
bullet Name  (this is how it will appear in others' inbox, under the "From" column)
bullet Email Address somebody@margaretadorjan.com
bullet Account Name or Username:  same as your email address
bullet Password: first three letters of your last name followed by the last four digits of your cell phone or whatever you changed it to!  (If you don't know your password, contact Tobi and ask her to reset it!)
bullet Incoming (POP) Mail Server:  mail.margaretadorjan.com
bullet Outgoing (SMTP) Mail Server:  mail.margaretadorjan.com
bullet Be sure to turn on the checkbox for "My Outgoing Server Requires Authentication"
bullet Unless you manually change it, most mail programs assume outgoing mail is sent on port 25.  If you have any problems sending mail, try changing it to port 26 which is an alternate port number provided on our server as many Internet Service Providers are starting to block residential users from accessing port 25 on third party mail servers.
